Velvet Negroni fiery new video + fall US tour dates announced

“Blurring art pop, R&B, and dub into something uniquely weird and delicately gorgeous. Keep an eye on this dude.”
– ROLLING STONE
“Sounds like nothing else that’s released this year — an endlessly surprising endeavor invoking elements of funk, pop and R&B that constantly veers from the trails of presumption and into a wilderness entirely of its own creation.”
– FADER
“An instant earworm.”
– AFROPUNK
“The moody, soulful sound of Velvet Negroni carries the sonic torch…of musical pioneers as Bauhaus, Cocteau Twins, and A.R. Kane…into new and exciting territories.”
– FLOOD
“If it sounds complex and unpredictable, that’s because it is. It’s also excellent.”
– THE FACE
“Gorgeously expansive sounds that meld and melt the lines between everything from lush synthpop, experimental electronic and choppy rap to reggae and dub.”
– THE OBSERVER
“A popping, echo-laden, melancholy ’80s funk banger”
– STEREOGUM
“Soulful, punchy & symphonic.”
– WONDERLAND
“Channeling the sparse compositions of hometown hero Prince.”
 – PIGEONS & PLANES
“Woozy.”
– BROOKLYNVEGAN
This fall, following his recently wrapped North American arena tour with Tame Impala, which included two nights at Madison Square Garden, Velvet Negroni will return to the road headlining a six-date North American run before leaving for the UK and Europe for headlining and festival performances.
Today, Velvet Negroni also reveals the new video for “ONE ONE” off his debut album NEON BROWN, released in August on 4AD. The fiery video is directed by Elliott Kozel and Kron and follows major critical praise from both sides of the pond with Rolling Stone, The FADER, Pigeons & Planes and The Observer among others calling Velvet Negroni a new artist you need to know.
Raised in an outer suburb of the Twin Cities, Jeremy Nutzman – a black kid adopted into a white evangelical Christian family – savored the secular pop music he could only hear as a kid during ice skating competitions. Years later, his refreshingly raw approach to R&B has notched him writing credits for Kanye West and Kid Cudi, plus two features on Bon Iver’s new album. Longtime collaborators Psymun (Future, Young Thug, Juice WRLD, The Weeknd) and Tickle Torture produced NEON BROWN.
