Jon Batiste Announces Six-Night Residency At Village Vanguard

ANNOUNCES SIX-NIGHT RESIDENCY 
AT HISTORIC JAZZ VENUE VILLAGE VANGUARD THIS FALL

NEW YORK, NY (September 11, 2018) – Jon Batiste, acclaimed musician and bandleader for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, will takeover The Village Vanguard for six nights, October 30th through November 4th. Backed by a full band, he’ll play two sets each night–8:30pm and 10:30pm–alongside Joe Saylor (drums), Phil Kuehn (bass), Tivon Pennicott (tenor sax), Patrick Bartley (alto sax) and Giveton Gelin (trumpet.) Batiste recently released singles What A Wonderful World” and Don’t Stop,” leading up to the September 28th release of his debut solo album Hollywood Africans, currently available for pre-order.

ABOUT JON BATISTE
Jon Batiste is an internationally acclaimed musician, bandleader and composer. Born into a long lineage of New Orleans musicians, Batiste is a graduate of The Juilliard School with a master’s degree. After graduating, he toured globally with his band Stay Human and currently appears nightly on national television as the bandleader and musical director for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Jon is a Forbes 30 under 30 honoree, Musical Director for The Atlantic and Creative Director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. He balances a demanding performance schedule with speaking engagements, curating events, occasional acting and producing opportunities, all while relentlessly composing new music. His last album Social Music, spent over a month atop the Billboard and iTunes jazz charts as the No. 1 jazz album in the world. He’s preparing for the release of his first solo album, Hollywood Africans on September 28th on Verve which includes the singles “Don’t Stop” and “A Wonderful World.” Jon’s mission is to share his faith, hope and love with the world around him.
