Sketchbook is Fantasia’s first project under her independently-ran label imprint via Rock Soul in partnership with B.M.G. The 12-track project sketches and weaves together varying topics native to who Fantasia is, the story that has solidified the powerhouse artistry she holds today, and enriching enlightenment to the life she envisions for the future.

Fantasia had this to say about Sketchbook and the inspiration behind the album title “I’ve shared so much with the world but I feel that there is more still in this journey .. I’m still growing. In the sketchbook we’re still coloring out and painting it out the way I want to be seen, not allowing anybody else to take control of that journey. This sketchbook, what I’m showing through my music, no matter where I go, I want people to see that the painting is still being filled in and there’s many colors and many things to Fantasia that they still don’t know — especially music.”

Fans can also expect an album unlike anything Fantasia has released. The project is genre-less and is a body of work that draws on all the music inspirations near-and-dear to Fantasia — from iconic rock band Queen to her biggest inspiration Ms. Aretha Franklin. It gives a hint of nostalgia from her days at American Idol — singing rock, soul and every genre encompassed in-between.

Already fans can attest to the genres and gems on Sketchbook. Earlier this year “Enough” debuted as the lead single off Sketchbook and currently holds the number two spot on the Billboard Adult R&B charts. The sophomore single “PTSD” featuring T-Pain, released last month, undeniably varies from “Enough” with its steamy melodic-make and provocative new-coined messaging (Post- Traumatic -Sex-Disorder).

Fans have a full month of surprises in store thanks to Fantasia for October. In addition to the album release, The Sketchbook Tour kicks off with Robin ThickeTank, and The Bonfyre (acts may vary based on location). About Fantasia
North Carolina native Fantasia broke onto the scene in 2004 as the season three winner of Fox’s American Idol. Later that year, she released her platinum-selling debut album Free Yourself and became the first artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart to debut at #1 with her first single, “I Believe.” The singer’s eponymous sophomore effort, released in 2006, featured the #1 R&B single “When I See U,” and reached gold status. In 2010, Fantasia earned her first ever Grammy Award for the hit single “Bittersweet,” off her critically acclaimed third album Back to Me.  Side Effects of You followed in 2013, debuting at #1 on the Billboard R&B Albums Chart and #2 on the Billboard Top 200. On July 29, 2016, Fantasia released her fifth studio album, The Definition Of…., which became her third consecutive #1 R&B album debut, her fourth top ten debut on the Billboard 200, and earned her another Grammy nomination for Best Traditional R&B Performance.

In addition to being a mainstay in music, Fantasia adds author and actress, to her growing list of accomplishments. In 2006, she released her New York Times best-selling memoir, Life Is Not a Fairytale, and starred as herself in the Lifetime movie of the same name. In 2007, Fantasia landed the coveted role of Celie in Broadway’s “The Color Purple” for which she won a Theater World Award. Fantasia returned to Broadway in 2013 as the first celebrity engagement in After Midnight, a dance-focused musical that celebrated Harlem’s iconic Cotton Club during the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s and’30s. After receiving rave reviews, Fantasia joined the cast of After Midnight for a second run in May 2014.
